I was definitely taken in after watching the film and thought my life would suddenly take a dramatic turn for the better after applying some visualisations. The trouble was, I had already been ‘applying’ those visualisations in my life for many years – although unconsciously for the most part. My life was already the result of my previous thinking, beliefs, visualising and actions I had taken. It wasn’t going to suddenly change overnight.
How To Apply The Law Of Attraction Effectively – Belief
What you believe will always ‘trump’ what you are wishing for. So don’t expect that which you don’t desire and don’t desire that which you don’t expect.
Both expectation and desire are two strong attracting forces. Unless they are aligned with each other, you will often be disappointed. If you find yourself saying things like “That’s typical, this always happens to me”, well that’s an expectation, and you’re attracting more of it by what you say.
Check those beliefs because they are pretty powerful. If you’re desiring a new life but expect things to remain the same, chances are good that you’re not actively making preparations for change, nor do you believe it. Your subconscious mind is in more control than your superficial thoughts, even though those thoughts are the “trickles of intention” which “feed” the subconscious mind with ideas, beliefs and attitudes.

Listen to yourself! No, I mean really listen! You need to get conscious with your words and thoughts, instead of running a dialogue without awareness. Most people live their whole lives without understanding that they, themselves are the creators.
By your words and thoughts, you create outcomes in your life. “Yeah sure”, I hear you say! But I want a new bike! Getting a new bike as a child might be as simple as throwing a tempter tantrum (or asking for one). As an adult, this strategy doesn’t tend to work very well for things like more money, relationships and houses!
But over a course of sometimes years and decades, things will change. Whether they change for the better or worse is in your hands and that of your beliefs, attitudes, desires and expectations.
Most of someone’s attitudes can be noticed by listening to them speak. So as a starting exercise, start listening more. Just be the observer.
Exercise: For the next 30 days, just listen to those around you without judgement or expectation. Notice their thoughts, judgements and attitudes. Where do you think these ideas will take them over a decade of thinking that way?
How To Apply The Law Of Attraction – Thoughts
Words are powerful indicators to a persons intentions and beliefs. In addition to listening to the words of others, pay close attention to what you are saying. Particularly when you talk about yourself. These are key indicators to how you feel about yourself. This is a big part of the law of attraction. You can’t build a skyscraper on the foundations of a cottage. If your thoughts and feelings about yourself don’t correspond with the life you want, you’ve little chance of building it.
Thoughts are pretty much with your your whole life. When you are alone you’re thinking. When you’re with others, you’re thinking. Thoughts are powerful indicators too about where your life is going. You’re either thinking yourself up in a positive way, or thinking yourself down in a negative way! Make sure it’s the latter.

How To Use The Law Of Attraction – Visualisation
The law of attraction is always working. You are always thinking and processing those thoughts. Or doing things which take you out of your thinking. It doesn’t just work when you decide to sit down and think about what you want. It’s also working when you’re upset and tired, unhappy and demoralised. You’re living in every moment of your life, even those ones you don’t notice.
Your life right now is the result of years of this already. You can’t turn around an ocean liner on the spot. It takes some time. Turning your thoughts around, your words around and your life around will take some time. Remember your whole identity is caught up in how you perceive your self and your life right now. So you’ve a lot invested in the current “you”!
Using visualisation is something you’ve already done. Even if you think you haven’t. Most people will daydream about something whether they notice or not. Visualisation is just the process of choosing a ‘daydream’ which you really want, rather than one you don’t want.
We can often daydream about things we don’t really want, like arguments and problems. This is when we use the law of attraction to manifest problems into our lives. The payoff can often be a ‘poor me’ self image or it further consolidates your “I told you so” attitude! “These kind of things always happen to me”. Perhaps it makes you feel important, or validated by someone, or something.
Exercise: think of something you would like to bring about. Some kind of experience or event which you would enjoy. think about it often and ‘daydream’. Make this a daily habit but choose something thats enjoyable to imagine
Gratitude – A Major Key To The Law Of Attraction
Without gratitude, we can’t for long sustain a level of satisfaction with the way things are. We must always therefore seek something ‘else’, unless we practice gratitude.
By grounding ourselves in the feeling of gratitude, we draw more things towards us which are in sync with this vibe. We can then let go of constantly wanting something ‘else’, and simply trust things will come. If they don’t, we can practice gratitude anyway and it instantly feels better than misery!
Anyone can practice the ‘feeling’ of being grateful, no matter what their circumstances are. Be grateful for your body, your health, or the shirt on your back. Be grateful for your memories or relationships and so on. The death bed exercise helps us look back on our life with more gratitude. Imagine you’re on your death bed. You re-live your life and look back on the people you loved. Look back on the things you have to say good bye to.
Exercise: Spend 5 minutes and think of the things you will miss from life when you have to say good bye to it. Be grateful for those people in your life right now. Start a journal of daily gratitudes.
The Key To Using The Law Of Attraction Effectively

- Become observant of how others and yourself speak – think about how their attitudes will affect their lives over a decade

- Practice the feeling of gratitude daily by focusing your mind on those things you’re grateful for already in your life right now. Start a gratitude journal.
Make these habits a part of your daily routine and over time extend the time period of your meditation. Become more conscious of your thinking and speaking and make more conscious decisions based on what you really want to say, think and do.
Goal Setting And Actions
If you have a particular goal in mind, or something you would like to accomplish, you can’t just send out ‘happy thoughts’ and expect it to come calling. This has been a criticism of the film The Secret for many, perhaps by omission rather than deception.
Using the law of attraction successfully to attain something you want can also mean a lot of planning and hard work. But first you need to decide on a course of action. Without a direction, goals are hard to define. Once you know what you want, create a plan and work hard to achieve it.
