Overcoming a scarcity mindset is something you must absolutely do if you want to change your life in terms of abundance. No matter how hard you work and what you do, a scarcity mindset will always work against you.

So what exactly is a scarcity mindset? Do you ever have thoughts that you’re not enough? Or do you ever feel like there’s something wrong with you? Do you always feel as though you don’t have enough money? Worries, limiting beliefs, past programming and life events can all help to create a scarcity mindset.

If your mind is focused on lack and limitation, whatever you do to improve your financial situation (on the outside) will likely be undone by your limiting thinking working against the creation of abundance.

Overcoming Scarcity Mindset

The first thing you can do to help in overcoming scarcity mindset is to notice your thinking and emotions. If you’re caught up in a poverty mindset, you’ll likely be focused on the negative. You may be thinking about your debt, or pain and suffering from the past. By doing so, you’re re-affirming the negative. To change this you need to shift your focus to higher levels of frequency.

At first this may take some time. Shifting your vibration from a low energy level such as grief, straight to joy just isn’t realistic; especially if you’ve already spent a lot of time there.

To move up the scale of emotions, you need only shift a small step at a time. Look for better feeling thoughts which help shift you out of the lower levels of vibration and into more pleasing emotions.

Overcoming Scarcity Mindset – What To Say To Yourself

One of the reasons you could be trapped in a scarcity mindset is the story you tell yourself in your head. Often a feeling of scarcity comes from your history or your self identity. If you have associated yourself with someone who is “just like that”, it can work against you until you tell it something different.

So one of the best strategies to switch your inner dialogue is to learn to notice your thoughts. Meditation can help with this (or simply sitting still and observing your mind). At first you’ll probably fall into the habit of becoming your thinking. Your mind will distract you and you’ll enter into talking to yourself. Once you notice this, you can go back to observing your thoughts without attachment. This is a powerful exercise which will help you detach yourself slightly and identify less with your thinking processes as the real “you”.

Start with a few minutes each day and build up over time.

When you start to see the stories which go on in your head, you’ll see that some of them relate to scarcity. Perhaps you’ll make excuses as to why your life is the way it is. You might relive situations and circumstances too. Once you realise that what you’re saying is controlling your paradigm around money and scarcity, you’ll want to look for better feeling thoughts.

Choose thoughts which are empowering not belittling. Notice especially those thoughts which relate to how much you earn, how you feel about yourself and emotional pain and/or trauma from the past.

Overcoming Scarcity – Self Image

It’s important to create a positive self image which allows you to grow and develop. If you think of yourself as a failure, it will be so much more difficult to attract the circumstances of success, whatever that means for you.

Self image is an important barometer for someone’s self worth and a poor self image typically goes hand in hand with scarcity.

You can work on your self image by learning to speak to yourself in a different way (see above). Most of what you believe about yourself is what goes on inside. No matter how many people tell you how much you are loved and appreciated, it always comes down to you to believe it or not!

Think about how you treat yourself. Does this reflect a poor self image or a positive one?

Clearing Negativity

To shift a negative scarcity mindset, you want to move through the emotional scale all the way up to abundance. When your mind is chattering away and you’ve got a negative voice in your head, this can be very difficult. To help clear the way it can be useful to focus on a mantra which distracts your mind and stops the dialogue of negativity from running the show.

One mantra I’ve found useful is the Ho’oponopono one. Ho’oponopono is the ancient Hawaiian practice of forgiveness. By reciting four phrases, you alter your mental chatter and direct the subconscious mind in another direction. This can be very powerful give the time, especially if you’ve been reciting negativity to yourself for a while before.

The four phrases you repeat are:

“I love you”

“Please forgive me”

“Thankyou”

“I love you”

Repeat these four phrases over and over in your mind. This helps you focus on something which stops your mind chattering about whatever it was chattering about before!

Worried About Money?

If you’re coming from a scarcity mindset you’re probably worried about money. This is a self fulfilling feedback loop from which you need to escape. The worry comes from a scarcity mindset which keeps telling you to worry about money. Therefore you create more money worries. You can’t escape the situation with a mindset which is focused on worry and scarcity.

Coming from an abundance paradigm, you would have a different thinking process about money.

A good way to start the shift from scarcity to abundance is to practice gratitude. Gratitude is a completely different vibration and emotion to worry. You can’t do both simultaneously! Try being worried and grateful at the same time! It’s impossible! So learn to practice gratitude to shift your energy around worry and scarcity.

Start by writing a gratitude diary every day and focus on all the things you’re grateful for in your life already.

Negative Beliefs About Money

Money doesn’t grow on trees. Rich people are greedy. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. I shall not want. Money is the root of all evil. Money is not important. I don’t want money. The rich get richer the poor get poorer. Money is limited. Money doesn’t bring happiness. An on and on it goes. It’s very difficult not to have picked up some limiting beliefs about money in your life.

The beliefs about you, and your worthiness, are also linked to your ability to earn money. Rest assured the negative beliefs are keeping you in poverty. Your beliefs about money are most definitely a factor in your ability and desire to earn and keep it. So if any of these ideas about money rings a bell for you, you should weed it out if you want to attract more abundance into your life.

Weeding Out negative Beliefs

When you catch yourself talking against abundance, or money is any way, you should stop and pay attention. You are halting the growth of wealth and abundance in your life by speaking against it.

When you start to notice your self talk and speech about how you relate to money, you can do something about it. Until then, you’re beliefs will remain unconscious and you’ll carry on as you always have.

Once you have found some negative ideas around money, you can see what beliefs your scarcity mindset is built on and begin dismantling the foundations. Observe them and then stop giving the the same attention. Use mantras which promote abundance, not poverty. See money mantra to become rich.

“I get paid for being me”

“Money comes to me in increasing amounts through multiple sources on a continual basis”

So when you catch yourself thinking or talking against abundance, repeat a positive mantra instead. Over time you’ll reprogram your subconscious mind to look for money opportunities and welcome money, rather than repelling it.

I always wondered “why does nothing ever work out for me?”. No matter how hard I tried at things, it was always the same. Nothing seemed to work.

But lets think about that statement before we go any further. “Why does nothing ever work out for me?”

It’s a belief and an affirmation. It may very well be true, but it also affirms an idea: “Nothing ever works out for you”. Repeating such an affirmation is self fulfilling.

The question you are asking may very well feel true for you the moment you ask it. It’s affirming a sense of struggle and pain. This may stem from an earlier time and you may be repeating this pain through other experiences until you can let go of it.

I had an early life trauma. My brother died in front of me on a Judo mat at age 10. It was to cause a string of events throughout my life. Pain and trauma has a way of doing this. It leaves an unconscious scar. Carrying the pain through life without knowing it can cause you to find more and more problems in life. Perhaps you’ve had a traumatic experience too, or are still grieving something in your past?

Ask better questions. If you catch yourself asking “why does nothing work out for me?’, ask yourself if this statement is entirely true. It may be that some things actually do work out for you. Think about what does work in your life.

A roof over your head, food on a daily basis? Family? a home? A healthy body? When you concentrate on the things which cause pain, you’re reliving that pain over and over. To shift this feeling which grows and grows when you focus on it, learn to focus on gratitude. Ask better questions such as “what does work in my life?” “How can I change my situation and become happier?”

Questions elicit responses. If you ask negative questions, your mind will look for negative answers.

You can reverse this habit by focusing on things which you are grateful for. see deliberate creation exercises. This is known as The Matthew Effect and can be observed throughout life in many forms. One of the commonest expressions of this is “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”.

When you’ve experienced pain in life, you find reasons and outcomes which reflect back to you what you already believe about life. Life is hard, money is always a problem, there’s no happiness or satisfaction. You probably say a few things like this to yourself too, don’t you?

We go through life with many teachers and mentors who may try and help us. But ultimately the person who you spend more of your life with is you! You are the one who determines what goes on inside your mind. You tell yourself stories based on what you believe and have picked up in life. They might not always be the most empowering ones or even the truth. But you believe what you continually say to yourself and repetition is key.

So if you’re telling yourself over and over “why does nothing ever work out for me?”, you’re training it into your subconscious mind. Guess what? It responds by creating the suggestion as a belief. Therefore nothing works out for you! Things go wrong for you because you keep telling yourself they will. You’re planting seeds into your subconscious mind all the time with your thought patterns, beliefs, attitudes and especially repetitive sayings!

Stop Doing Things Which Cause Pain

I tried at many things and no matter how hard I tried, I considered myself as a failure. This is the crux of things. How you see yourself is a big part of making life work for you. Until I realised this I kept walking into more and more problems.

Your self image either works for you or against you. If you keep saying to yourself “why does nothing ever work out for me?”, your self image could be sabotaging your best efforts. You may be trying really hard at things, harder than some who simply float through life, right? But somehow there’s always something standing in your way, stopping you make that breakthrough.

Your self image may be the culprit. Self image is a deep ingrained part of who you thing you are. No matter what you do on an outside level, your self image is going to trump all your efforts. That’s because it’s the little voice in your head which never stops talking. Until you learn to control that voice, and change what it has to say, you’ll likely repeat the same problems you’re encountering time after time.

Retrain Your Brain For A Change

You can reprogram you mind to focus on things which are more pleasing and enjoyable. When you focus on the pain, you create more of it. Of course you still have to pay the bills and go to work and this can bring up problems; especially for people who are carrying emotional scars from their past traumas.

The first step towards changing your life for the better is just to observe what’s going on in your mind. If your constantly saying to yourself “why does nothing ever work out for me?”, you’re probably saying a bunch of other negative things too.

Make time to sit and notice your internal dialogue for at least 5 minutes to start with. You don’t have to get into the full lotus position or cross your legs! Meditation can be just about sitting comfortably and noticing your mind without attachment to it. At first you’ll get drawn into the dramas playing in your head. But over time and with practice, you’ll be able to distance yourself from them and see them as thoughts and not actually you.

You can also write down some of your most common beliefs which keep coming up and get them out in the open. When things are running in your head, you tend to just believe them. But when you start dissecting your inner dialogue, you can stop attaching yourself to it.

Create Some New Mantras Instead

Your old mantras are the things you tell yourself which perpetuate your current situation. If you no longer want to live a life filled with nothing ever working out for you, you need to change what’s going on inside. This can start with another mantra which you’ll repeat to yourself in your head.

Now your previous mantra will probably have been going on for years, even decades. “Why does nothing ever work out for me?”, you say (in your head). “Why does nothing ever work out for me?”, “Why does nothing ever work out for me?”, over and over.

To change your belief you’re going to need to spend some time repeating an alternative mantra many times over and over. Here’s one which you can use:

“things work out easily and effortlessly”

“everything works out perfectly for me”

Of course you may have problems at first repeating such a mantra when your ingrained belief is just the opposite of this. If so, just be a little gentler and use one like this:

“some things do work out for me, just fine” or something like that!

So whenever you hear yourself repeat your old saying “why does nothing ever work out for me?”, repeat the new mantra “actually somethings do work out for me, just fine”.

Cybernetic Transposition

Stuart Lichtman, an MIT professor has studied what he calls cybernetic transposition. This is a strategy to change belief and create amazing results in your life.

It is based around the repetition of a daily mantra which is tailor made to you, for your own specific preferences and difficulties. What this takes into account is you own personal desires and expectations for what you want to achieve.

These strategies have worked wonders for me but they take time and some dedication. Think about how long you’ve been telling yourself those same negative stories about how nothing ever works out. You need to spend time and effort to change your paradigms around whatever is holding you back.

Self love is another thing to work on too. It’s something which has helped me dramatically. If you’re carrying old trauma in your pain body, you’ll keep feeding it with unhappy circumstances and problems. Then it keeps growing and your old negative mantras keep feeding the same beliefs which create them; over and over. A quick way to the route of the problem is to focus on self love.

With self love you go to the heart of the issue! If you’re carrying grief and pain, you need to heal it. Your decision making process is impaired and you’ll keep attracting problems unless you love yourself.

If you loved yourself would you keep creating problems for yourself? No, you wouldn’t unless it was to wake yourself up! But once you’re awake you don’t need to keep making life hard for yourself. So just learn to love yourself. Ask yourself whether your actions are those of someone who loves themselves in every situation.

Repeat a daily mantra “I love myself”, over and over in your head.

The Ho’oponopono Process

Another great technique is called the ho’oponopono process. This is a technique whereby you repeat the phrases:

” I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you” over and over inside your head.

This is a great mantra for clearing old negative thought patterns out of your mind and subconscious mind. While repeating these phrases, over and over, it’s going to replace existing thought habit patterns while creating new more positive ones.

To make the law of attraction work better and faster for you, you need to know the law of attraction rules. Everyone hates rules though right!? Maybe you’re not a fan of rules, but you do want to create something worthwhile in your life. So it’s worth understanding how the creation process works; so you can make it work better in your life.

The basic rules of the law of attraction are that you get more of what you give your attention to. This means if you spend a lot of time complaining and worrying, guess what: yep, you’re creating more of that! More things to complain and worry about! You can’t just do a half-hour manifestation ritual and then go about business as usual. If business as usual means complaining, moaning and focusing on the bad stuff, your half-hour ritual won’t make up for it!

Rule 1 of The Law Of Attraction is ask. To ask for what you want means imparting the thoughts, feelings and emotions of having already received what you want on the subconscious mind. This is usually a natural wishing and wanting exercise which we will do without thinking. As children we were always excellent at manifesting. We would visualise what we wanted and imagine it in every way – using all our senses and believing with was real.

Unfortunately this natural ability is usually knocked out of us by the time we have become adults. We’re told to wake up and stop being day dreamers!

So rule 1 of the law of attraction is to re-learn the skill of day dreaming and fantasising about what you really want. Don’t imagine what you think you can achieve. Go all out and start believing in what you can imagine.

Visualisation is a great tool to impart your creative genius on your subconscious mind. Then let your unconscious mind deliver the right steps to move forwards and start taking some action steps. See law of attraction steps. Dreaming and visualising should be enjoyable and fun. If it’s not, don’t do it!

Once you have created a great visualisation regarding what you want, don’t then sabotage it by talking against it or thinking counterproductive thoughts. Trust in it and work towards it.

Rule 2 Believe

Two of the largest attractive forces of the law of attraction are desire and expectation. So you shouldn’t desire something you don’t expect, and you shouldn’t expect something you don’t desire. Doing so would be unproductive. Don’t aim for something you don’t believe you can make happen. And don’t expect the worst either. If you expect something and desire it as well, both these attractive forces are lined up and you’re on to creating a great affirmation.

Belief is as important as your desire to achieve something. Unless you believe you can attain something, you’re unlikely to follow through with it. In fact, if you don’t believe you can achieve something, you’re unlikely to even start. So believing in your goal, yourself and your ability to achieve it is a must.

Pick a target you score ten out of ten for in both desirability and achievability.

Believe in it and in yourself and take the appropriate steps to achieve it.

The third rule of the law of attraction is to allow it. Although this sounds like an easy part, it’s often where people have difficulty. This can come down to holding thoughts of unworthiness or not being “good enough”. Believing you deserve what you want and that you’re worthy of having it is massively important.

Imagine having what you want right now. Visualise everything working out just how you want it. Whatever you’re wanting – the house the partner the perfect career, just sit with it in your mind and play it out.

Do any thoughts of conflict come up? If so they are major keys to what’s holding you back.

Receiving what you really want also means becoming the person you need to become in order to receive it. What kind of person must you be to have everything you dream of having?

Jim Carrey is a huge advocate of the law of attraction. During his Opera interview he talked about how he wrote a check for $10 million several years before achieving it (after acting in the film Dumb and Dumber). He gave himself 3 years and dated it thanksgiving 1995. Just before thanksgiving 1995 he found out he was going to earn $10 million.

He visualised having directors interesting in him and his peers admiring his work. In 1987 he had nothing and was a broke struggling actor. In his interview he stated that he used visualisation just to make himself feel better.

Jim Carrey was a massive self help fan and used to read books from the self help section.

Jim Carrey had both belief in himself and what he wanted. Plus he had the desire to achieve it by working as an actor.

If you don’t really want it, you’ll sabotage your efforts. If you don’t believe in attaining (what you say) you want, you’ll give up sooner or later too.

The main law of attraction steps are:

  • Believe
  • Receive

Ask

Asking means deciding on what you want and continuing to visualise and plan to make it happen. Deciding what you want can be the biggest problem and if you’re unsure, you should get clear on this first.

Believe

Believing in your dreams is huge. Unless you believe in what you really want, and believing you can attain it, you’ll be whimsical in trying to attain it.

Receive

Receiving is another part of the law of attraction which many people get wrong too. Despite thinking that you’re happy to receive, consider having everything you desire right now. What comes up in your mind? Sometimes you’ll find obstacles are inherent in your thinking process just by imagining your desired outcome right this minute. What blockages prevent you from fully imagining and appreciating the good which is coming to you?

Tuning Into What You Really Want

Knowing what you want can be the toughest part of using the law of attraction. Getting clear on this will save you a lot of time and effort. Jim Carrey knew what he wanted.

To help you tune into what you want you can use affirmations. Start by writing out a single intention which meets your main criteria. For example:

“Money comes to me easily and effortlessly”. This is a nice simple affirmation. Perhaps you’re not that money focused and already have plenty. Maybe you’re looking for something else like your soul mate or a partner:

“I’m so happy and grateful to be with my partner”

55×5 Manifestation

What is the 55×5 manifestation and what does it do? The 55×5 manifestation is a strategy to program your subconscious mind to work with you, rather than against you.

Most of us are blissfully unaware of how powerful our subconscious minds really are. We say we want something (consciously); but offer up many conflicting stories, ideas and desires to the subconscious mind. It is so inundated with conflicting desires, emotions and ideas that it usually doesn’t deliver what (we say) we want. But actually it does! We say we want one thing but our behaviour tells the subconscious a different story. Often too we will contradict ourselves with our personal “stories” by blaming and complaining, rather than relaying a congruent message (to the subconscious mind).

In terms of the unconscious mind, it responds to the underlying feelings, emotions and continual repeated messages which it receives. That’s where the 55×5 manifestation comes in.

55×5 Manifestation – Repetition

The 55×5 manifestation is a manifesting method of using repetition to program “grooves” into the subconscious mind. By choosing an affirmation which you want to make a reality, and repeating it multiple times a day (55 times), you are reprogramming your subconscious mind to focus on what you want.

By having a congruent message to tell the subconscious mind, you not only direct it in a certain way, but you are also not telling it other messages which might contradict what you really want! Other conflicting messages can lead to a confusion in the manifestation process. For example, you say you want to lose weight, but you also want to eat whatever you want and not exercise! You say you want something more, but you doubt and question your ability to achieve it when talking to yourself.

Learning to listen to your self talk is a good way to observe the mind and see the current messages you’re projecting on to the subconscious mind. Once you see this for yourself, you’ll see why you aren’t currently getting the results in your life which you really want! See law of attraction subconscious mind.

Using The 55×5 Manifestation Ritual

To choose a positive affirmation think about what you really want. It might be a better figure, to lose some weight or to make more money and/or get a better job. It’s important to choose something which is not completely unrealistic for you, but which is also something that excites you. Choosing something mundane which you trust you can achieve but don’t really, really want isn’t a good idea. You’re unlikely to have the motivation to keep going with your 55×5 manifestation for long.

Saying that it’s also important to choose something you believe is attainable too. Choosing something which is far beyond anything you can realistically attain may reduce your belief in your mantra. If you don’t really believe you can achieve something, chances are good you’ll give up and not put the effort in.

Here’s a few examples of what your affirmation could be:

I’m happy that I’m making and extra $1000 a month from my online business

I’m so happy and grateful now that I’ve found my perfect partner

I’m so happy and grateful now that I’ve lost 2 stone in weight

I’m grateful now that I’ve moved into a new house in the suburbs

I now make $2000 a month from my laptop

Money comes to me in increasing amounts through multiple sources

Using Gratitude in Your 55×5 Manifestation

I like adding the “I’m so happy and grateful now that” part for a couple of reasons. For one it acts as a sort of insurance policy. Usually you choose an affirmation because that’s how (you think) it will make you feel – more grateful. However, in some cases I’ve chased a goal only to find it hasn’t helped me in life and not brought me what I really wanted: true happiness and gratitude.

Adding the gratitude part also helps because gratitude is a powerful attractive force. You’re going to be repeating your mantra 55 times a day and writing it out. If your affirmation isn’t completely congruent with what you want, you’ll soon experience some conflict.

For example, if you’ve written your affirmation out 10 times and already you’re doubting it, you may need to change it a little. You should aim to have an affirmation which is a 10/10 on desirability and a 10/10 on believability. If you lack desire, or don’t fully believe in your goal, you’ll give up too easily.

Writing Out Your Affirmation – 55×5 Law Of Attraction

The 55×5 manifestation is so named because you’ll be writing it out 55 times for 5 days in a row. Yep! Does that sound like a lot of work? You bet it is! In fact if you want a faster result you could even double this number! The more times you write it out, the deeper the grooves you’ll create in your subconscious mind. You want to get your conscious mind and subconscious mind together working as a team!

Because you’re going to be writing out your affirmation so many times, you’ll probably want to make it short. A shorter affirmation can also help you get straight to the point of what you want to manifest.

Why Repetition Works

Remember at school when you used to have to write out your times tables over and over? Or you wrote your spellings out repeatedly? This is because repetition works. You’re literally creating neural pathways in your brain as you do it.

The main problem with manifesting what we want is that our brains are wired with many pathways which contradict our desires and dreams. We doubt we can attain what we want and so stop trying.

Who do you listen to most in your life? It’s yourself. You talk to yourself in your head repeatedly over and over. You tell yourself what’s possible and what isn’t. You probably have a story you tell to others too about who you are, what’s important to you and why your life is exactly the way it is, right?

That’s your story because it’s what you’ve been programming yourself with over the years. To change your life, you need to change your story! Everyone’s life will be an exact match to their story. So to change your life you must change your story. That is, change what you tell yourself on a daily basis.

Cybernetic Transposition

Stuart Lichtman created what he calls cybernetic transposition. This is a manifestation technique where you take a story from your past and adjust it to use for a manifestation.

This is very powerful because your old story is a real memory. As such you can recall images, feelings, sounds and vibrations from the real memory.

You then create a story based on the old memory but altered into what Stuart calls a metastory. This is a new story about what you want to achieve – your affirmation.

You then use this affirmation, and the real memories around it, to program your subconscious mind for an amazing achievement.

This is similar to the 55×5 manifestation idea but in much more depth.

The exercises in Stuart’s book (below) will help you to fine tune your affirmations so that they are congruent to what you really want, and what you believe is possible right now. As you get better at training your subconscious, you’ll be able to move on to bigger and more difficult attainments.

There’s several law of attraction exercises which can help you overcome limiting beliefs, focus on your goals and tune to what you want and what’s already working in your life:

Many of our affirmations aren’t working for us because we affirm the negative unconsciously. “I’m no good at this”, “I’ll never achieve that” etc. Noticing your current recurring patterns of thought is a good way to weed out negative affirmations which are holding you back from the life you deserve. You can start doing this just by observing but meditation is another useful practice which can help.

Meditation

Meditation can help you relax and calm the mind. You can also access a much better state of mind than you’re normally used to. In our busy lives we can easily create a poisonous atmosphere in our minds. We re-run negative circumstances and situations over and over. Meditation helps you escape this trap and become more conscious of the thoughts you give energy to.

It’s very difficult to communicate what you want to your subconscious mind if your mind is whirling storm. Meditation can help you quiet the mind so that you can create a good mental state and communicate ideas more clearly to the subconscious as well as hear messages which your subconscious mind is attempting to deliver. Visualisation

Visualisation can help relay images and feelings of what you want to manifest to your subconscious mind. We are born as daydreamers and school teaches us to forget how to do this. Remind yourself how to create through visualisation by taking time each day to day dream about something you really want. Imagine it vividly and fantasise about how you want your life to be.

Law Of Attraction – Stalking

In the Carlos Castinada books, Don Juan Matus teaches his apprentice the strategies for stalking his own mind. One practical application is explained in the book below (The teachings of don carlos). In it, Victor Sanchez explains a strategy to understand the inner workings of the mind. See law of attraction techniques for more on this.

This involves taking a notepad and a timer. Set the timer to go off at random intervals throughout the day. Each time, take out the notepad and write down 3 things:

  • What you were thinking
  • What you were doing
  • Do you want this?

Do this exercise for at least a couple of days.

The Law Of Attraction Exercises – Gratitude

I found this exercise in Ask and it Is Given by Esther Hicks. The book has a number of law of attraction exercises and is highly recommended.

The storm of appreciation is a great law of attraction exercise. Take a notepad and pen and write down some of the things you’re grateful for. Take some time over this. Look around you and notice things in your house which you love. Describe in detail what you like about things and focus on those things more and more. Do this exercise daily and you’ll start to notice things in your life which you truly love and appreciate. This is a magical exercise and the more you practice it the more you’ll notice in your life which you love.

You can also create a gratitude journal in a similar fashion. Write in it daily about the things you’re truly grateful for. Over time, gratitude will become your natural state and you’ll draw in more things to be grateful for.

Law Of Attraction Exercises – Self Love Mantra

Like affirmations, a self love mantra can work wonders using the law of attraction. The more you love yourself, the less you’ll tolerate (and focus on) the unpleasant and difficult aspects of life. They will simply fall away if you practice this exercise regularly and for long enough.

“I love myself” – repeat this again and again throughout your day.

The key is to create some new mental grooves which will ultimately replace some of your old, negative beliefs thoughts and ideas. Just this one concept can work wonders if you run with it and do it for long enough.

As you practice this mantra regularly, you’ll start to notice some of your old, competing beliefs coming up. Just notice them and carry on with the practice.

Next we must believe we are worthy of receiving it and finally we must allow ourselves to receive what we truly want. Asking means communicating with your unconscious mind and letting go of the outcome. Wanting is an emotional state of desire. Some people spend their entire lives in the state of wanting. And it’s not a pleasant state to be stuck in.

A little wanting is ok. You’re communicating a need to your unconscious self. But you also need to remind yourself of how you want to feel when you “arrive” at the place of having received what you asked for. This is a state of gratitude. Asking for what you want should be done by daydreaming. Most people have forgotten how to day dream consciously, but do so unconsciously. Imagine yourself in the perfect scenario, whatever it is. Many people do the opposite of this. They think about things they don’t want. They imagine arguing and fighting. You can’t manifest a life you love by focusing on all the things you despise. This is a common trap because the feelings of struggle and disharmony are very emotive. They encompass many emotions and feelings and it’s easy to start associating these feelings with your own identity.

Focusing on what you really want and taking your attention away from things you don’t want is a good place to start asking.

Belief – The Key To Your Current Experience

It’s hard to believe (or maybe it isn’t) that your beliefs underpin your current experience. There’s so many people in the world and everyone is experiencing it differently. How can your version be the only right one? For many, belief is about being right. What are you trying to be right about? Would you rather be right or be happy and create your perfect life?

Henry ford said “whether you believe you can or you can’t, you’re right”.

But your beliefs also mould you in other ways too. What do you believe about your ability to make money, hold down satisfying relationships, find love and enjoy your work/life balance? Listen to your answers because they hold the key to your current reality.

You can change your beliefs around certain topics if you want to create better outcomes. In what areas of life are you feeling the most pain and dissatisfaction? Love, money, relationships, fun, pleasure? To change your beliefs around a certain topic takes a little introspection. Listen to your stories around the topic of your choice. What do you tell yourself or others about this part of your life?

Tell Yourself A Different Story

Telling yourself a different story and changing the record can help shift the grooves in your mind. Your thoughts have power when they are repeated over and over and your life takes the shape of what you continually tell yourself. Start by noticing what you think and say around certain topics. Are you running an old program which isn’t helping you create a better life?

Receiving – You’re Worth It

Do you believe you’re worth the result you desire? Really? If there’s any doubt then that’s holding you back too. Remember that what we are holding in our minds will create our future. If you’re focusing on doubt and fear that’s what you’ll create more of. Focus on love and happiness and likewise you’ll create more of it.

Most people aren’t happy in their lives because they are focused on the bad things rather than the good. A life long habit of this tendency will lead someone to a cup which is half empty rather than half full! Smaller goals have a huge knock-on effect over the longer term. because they are small, easily achievable goals you’re also more likely to sustain them. With a mini habit you can easily sustain it even when you’re feeling ill, off colour or not at your best.

Achieving a small mini goal gives you a natural boost. You can hit a mini goal every day, without much effort. Over time it become ingrained in your brain to do those things without thought. They become unconscious habits.

Changing your self image from a “fatty” to a “fitty” will take some time and effort! You can start the process by telling yourself some new lies. Affirmations don’t have to be outright lies. Your conscious mind will most likely reject outright lies you tell yourself anyway. If you don’t believe you’re fit and in good shape, it might be a stretch telling yourself you are, if you don’t believe it. But you can choose words (and thoughts) which support a new you!

Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy. For most people their mind works against them at least some of the time. When you practice mediation you learn to calm the mind and get into a more positive state.

Doing so regularly will slowly change your outlook. You’ll look for ways to keep yourself in this calm state. Feeling anxious, depressed and unhappy won’t feel right and you’ll start creating a happier more positive state of mind as your default. But it starts with building the practice into your life. If you fully and completely love yourself, how would your life be different? How would you work? Would you put up with the things in your life right now?

A good practice is to create a mantra around loving yourself and repeat it daily. Whenever you notice your thoughts run wild, practice the phrase “I love myself” over and over. This might seem difficult at first, especially if your thoughts are contrary to this idea. But over time you’ll notice you will avoid negativity and create a new life from within. The Teachings Of Don Juan

In Victor Sanchez’s book The Teachings Of Don Carlos, he explains several useful strategies for stalking your own mental patterns of behaviour. One simple exercise in the book is to take a notebook and pen and use a recurring timer. Throughout your day set your timer to go off at intervals that will catch you off guard. When the timer goes off, take a note of your actions, and thoughts and note down on a scale of 1-10 how much you want what you are thinking and saying to yourself. Do this simple exercise over the course of several days. You’ll learn a lot about your mental thinking processes – many of which will be completely unconscious and have been built up over a number of years.

The first known usage of the term the law of attraction was in 1877. It was found in a book by Helena Blavatsky, in a book about esoteric mysteries. Since then, there have been many books written on the subject including books such as:

  • Working With The Law – Raymond Holliwell
  • The Strangest Secret – Earl Nightingale

So, Rhonda Bryne’s book and film “The Secret” is definitely not the first time the phrase has been coined. But it’s the first time many people have been told that there is some mystical reason why their lives suck so bad! For many, this was good news. They were inspired to make changes and take a different route. But most people found nothing major happened in their lives. Is that because the law of attraction scammed them? What Does The LOA Say?

In essence, the law of attraction says that what we think about and give attention to grows in our experience. “What we think about and thank about we bring about“. So, if we think about possibilities and outcomes we would like to create in our lives, we can create more of them, or come up with solutions to how we might create them. If we only think about our current circumstances, or about grievances from our past, we’re likely to get more of those too!

But there’s a lot more to it than just that of course. Your upbringing, your beliefs, attitudes and opportunities will have a huge say in what you can manifest using the law of attraction. But you can be pretty sure that if you do nothing, you can’t expect the world to fall at your feet and give you everything you want.

The LOA And Belief

Are you unhappy with your current situation and circumstances in life? Do you believe you are worthy of more? Here lies the starting point of the law of attraction. Whether you believe you are worthy or not, of something you want, is a large precursor to what is coming. This simple sentence explains very succinctly how the law of attraction works. Flowers grow steadily towards the sunlight. They don’t doubt themselves and throw a tizzy like we do!

It’s easy to see how people have decided the law of attraction is a scam when they don’t see evidence of it working for them. But their justification of their position in life is the law of attraction working! Those are the very “seeds” they are planting! The results they see in their lives are the fruits which are borne from their thinking and acting in a certain way.

Behaviour doesn’t change for most people. They generally work in the same jobs, see the same people, and their lives map out in a predictable way. For the law of attraction to really work, you have to change your behaviour. The Secret is looked upon by many as a scam because they misunderstand it. For your life to change, you must change. Behaviour doesn’t change mostly because people have bought into a self perception of who they are. Self image is a strong indicator of how well a person will do in life in terms of love, income, and satisfaction. Most people have a well engrained self image which is difficult to change. One of the best books on this subject is Maxwell Maltz’s psycho-cybernetics.

Maltz worked as a plastic surgeon but realised that many of his clients were unhappy even after they had facial corrective surgery. He discovered that changing the self image was far more important than changing someone’s outward appearance. in some instances, his clients didn’t want facial surgery after their self image was changed. They no longer needed to change the “outside” of their appearance.
